Alfred Brand

Alfred L. Brand – 76 – Passed away February 8, 2014 at his home in Newton, KS. He was born November 20, 1937 in McNatt, Missouri the son of Edward and Rosie (Sligar) Brand.   Al owned and operated Al’s Carpet & Tile in Goodman, Mo. since 1958. On October 27, 2011 Al married Mary L. Prewit in Miami, OK. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a stepson Curtis Sanders; two step daughters Laurie Jones and Ruby Hammann; 2 brothers – half brother William Parish of Anderson, MO,; 1^st cousin raised as a brother James Stephens of Neosha, Mo. ; a half sister Mabel Parish Tyner of Bloomington, IL; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He’s preceded in death by his parents and Vina Grace Sligar.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 4-9pm with family present from 6:30-8pm at Petersen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014 10:00AM at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton, Ks. with burial following at Walton Cemetery, Walton, KS. Memorials may be made to Progressive Hospice in care of the funeral Home.
