Baleria “Bea” Flores-Brown

d. December 19, 2014

Baleria “Bea” Flores-Brown passed away on Friday December 19, 2014.  She was born to Magdalena and Francisco Flores on January 28, 1939 in Cedar Vale, Kansas. She was one of seven children in her family.  The family moved to Newton, Kansas where Bea attended high school.  She met Clarence Brown while attending Newton High School.  The two married on October 25, 1957.  They had five children together, Robert, Dianna, Gilbert, Debbie & Brenda.  Bea loved the outdoors, she was a terrific gardener, spent much time camping with her family, and fishing. Anyone who knew Bea would likely remember her energy, and her love of gathering with friends and family. Holiday gatherings, special occasions, a barbeque, or a picnic, no matter the reason, being around others brought great joy to Bea.  Many family members looked forward to Bea’s homemade tortillas, pork chili & other dishes because she was an excellent cook! She was a good bowler, bowling with a league for many years. She loved dancing and traditional Mexican music, she had a special group of friends she would go dancing with, two of whom she still held friendships with, Josie and Cookie. It would only make sense that Bea also had an affinity for shoes!  Bea’s daughters remember if they needed shoes for any occasion, their mother’s closet was the place to go! Gambling was something that Bea didn’t do regularly but she loved it!  She visited Vegas several times, many with her family, staying at the Stardust & Golden Nugget before they were tore down.  She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Guadalupe Garcia; husband; son, Robert Brown; granddaughter, Tina Maria Smith.  Survived by son, Gilbert and wife Stacy Brown; daughters, Brenda and husband Jeff Krueger, Dianna and husband Jack Doty, Debbie and husband Jeffrey C. Frost; brothers Ines and wife Linda Flores, Paul and wife Brenda Flores; sisters, Mickey and husband Ralph Perez, Maggie and husband Julian Villalabos, Mary and husband Bob Anderson; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 23, 2014 from 5-9 pm at Petersen Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday December 24, 2014 at 10:00 A.M., in the chapel of Petersen Funeral home.  Memorials may be made out to American Liver Foundation.
