Life Sketch for Beverly Ann Wiens

Beverly Ann Wiens, 63, passed away at her home in Newton on September 18, 2018.

Beverly was born on December 6, 1954 to Donald and Marjorie (Mosiman) Lewis in Newton, Kansas.  She attended Newton schools and was a graduate of the class of 1973 at Newton High School.

Beverly married Gerry Wiens on October 24, 1992 in Halstead, Kansas. They were married for twenty five years prior to her passing.

She liked to “latch hook”, cook, participate in Aqua Therapy with Kidron Bethel

and enjoy her sister’s chocolate chip cookies. She was determined and a “little” bit feisty.

Beverly had a long term illness that had left her wheel chair bound for the last twenty years.  Through it all, she remained upbeat, never gave up and expected to be healed. As the scripture states: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith…”2 Timothy 4:7 (NASB)

Beverly exemplified this word through her illness and life.

She is survived by husband: Gerry Wiens; children: Sherry Smith, Mike Smith, Kristi Flaming; sister: Marilyn Ashcraft; and eight grandchildren: Kaitlin Rutschman, Chris Rutschman, Logan Ochoa, Gavin Ochoa, Allison Reiner, Zach Smith, Mia Smith and Emily Flaming.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Donald and Marjorie Lewis.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2018 at First Missionary Church of Newton.  A public visitation will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Petersen Funeral Home.  The family will be present from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. to greet friends and family. A committal service will be held at the First Missionary Church Cemetery in rural Elbing, Kansas following the service.

The family has suggested the following memorial fund:  First Missionary Church Building Fund, First Missionary Church, 1300 Berry Ave., Newton, Kansas 67114. Petersenfamilyfuneralhome.com.
