Clarence H. Wedel 89,  died July 22, 2018 at Kidron Bethel Village Healthcare. He was born to Herman & Christina (Voran) Wedel on February 1, 1929 in rural
Moundridge, KS. He was the eighth child of ten children. When he was eight years old, his family
moved to a farm in rural Burns, KS where he lived the rest of his life. He graduated from Burns High
School. He was baptized at Zion Mennonite Church in Elbing; where he served as church chairman and
deacon for many years. In his early twenties he served with MCC PAX rebuilding houses in Germany
which really influenced his life. After returning from Germany he married Thelma Andres on December
1, 1959. Their marriage was blessed with three children. He farmed with his brother Wilmer on the
family farm. He was a man of prayer, with a deep Christian faith. His delight was watching his
grandchildren grow and it put a sparkle in grandpa’s eye watching his great-grandchild’s antics. He was
preceded in death by both parents; brothers Stanley, Howard, Wilmer and Kenneth Wedel; sisters Verna
Regier, Elisabeth Regier, Eleanor Wedel, and Jane Entz. Survivors include wife Thelma Wedel; sister Ruth
Andres, sister-in-law Martha Wedel, brother-in-law Edwin (and wife Evelvnn) Andres; Children Gary (and
wife Sharon), Karen Wedel, and Cynthia Bessent; Grandchildren Matthew, Tim (and wife Sarah) &
Kristyn Wedel, Sydney & Taylor Bessent; and Great Grandson Remington Wedel.

Viewing will occur at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton on Thursday evening 5-9 prn, family will be
present from 6-8 pm. The memorial service will take place on Friday, July 27 at 11:00 am at Zion
Mennonite Church in Elbing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to MCC in care of Petersen Funeral Home
