Dennis Staley

Dennis Staley, 67, died on Wednesday, December 30th at Newton Medical Center.

Dennis was born on March 6, 1948 in Newton, Kansas to Galen Eugene and Velda Mae (Gillispie) Staley.

Dennis attended Newton schools and worked at Bethel College Food Service area for 43 years. He was an avid fan of Bethel College Athletics and was called their “No. 1 Fan”. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Newton.

He is survived by his mother: Velda Mae Staley Higgins and her husband, Berle; brothers: Rod and Nancy Staley, and Kevin and Angie Staley.

He was preceded in death by his father: Galen Eugene Staley.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 7th at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. A public visitation will be at Petersen Funeral Home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 6th. Burial will follow the service at Wild Mead Cemetery in rural Nickerson, Kansas.

  1. Deep Sympathy is extended to Velda, Berle, Rod and Kevin with their extended family. Dennis proved himself in several areas during his lifetime due to the support of his loving family. Dennis always shared a smile. I will miss him around the community.
