Edwarda M. Manring, 78, died on Tuesday, (Nov. 5) at Newton Medical Center. She was born on August 7, 1935 in El Dorado to Ted and Leona (Gard) Leffingwell. She was a graduate of the Newton High School class of 1953. Upon graduation she married Fawn Manring in Newton. They were married for more than 60 years until her death. Edwarda was formally an office manager for Toevs Realty and Insurance. She enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, and fishing. She was awarded the honor of Woman of the Year in 1958. She greatly loved her grandchildren and was famous for her macaroni and cheese. She was a member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Fawn Manring; children: Tim Manring and spouse, Kim, and daughter, Malissa Bolte, both of Newton; sister, Sue Harper and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Leona Leffingwell.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Trinity Heights United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8, at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A committal will be held at Greenwood Cemetery following the service. A memorial has been set up for the Piecemakers Quilters of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church.
