Esther Ream

Esther C. Ream 85, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Asbury Park in Newton, Kansas.  She was born September 27, 1928 in Newton, Kansas to Eli and Nancy (Branson) Butts.. On February 7, 1947 she married Gaylord “Jack” Ream in Wellsville, Kansas and he preceded her in death on August 31, 1992.  Esther was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton, Kansas and a retired Hostess and Cashier for the former Lee and Ida’s restaurant and also a the Newton Red Coach Hotel.  Esther enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting.

She is survived by her sons: Steve and Sara Ream of Wichita, KS and Don and Joann Ream of Cedar Hill, Texas; daughters Marilyn and Chuck Shepherd of Newton and Karen Ream and her partner Tim Wolfe also of Newton, KS; sister Edna Ousler of Peabody and 12 grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, one brother and 4 sisters

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kansas.  Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
