Fernetta Elizabeth Fundenberger, 90, of Sedgwick, lately of Moundridge, KS died Friday, April 11, at Newton Medical Center

 

She was born in Whitewater, Kansas on March 16, 1924 to William and Daisy (Harrison) Dodge.

She graduated from Whitewater schools and Friends University. She married Dale Fundenberger on March 26, 1948. Dale and her son, James David, preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter Rita (Pat) Kirkpatrick of Newton and son Leon of Topeka, six grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren.

 

Fernetta taught school in Cheney and Valley Center, Ks. She also worked for for the state in SRS, Ross Mill in Whitewater, Friends University, and Sears

She loved music, the church and travel. She taught piano out of her home and often took her family to area concerts. She taught Sunday School for decades and assisted in the church in many ways. She traveled by train for many family vacations  and went to Europe in 1985. Lately she loved to watch her granddaughters play in sports and participate in school programs.

 

Memorials may be made to the Lillian Tear Library of Sedgwick, Pine Village of Moundridge or the Sedgwick United Methodist Church

 

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with The Reverend Paul Stephens of Sedgwick United Methodist Church officiating.  Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday April 14, 2014 at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery Sedgwick, Kansas.
