He died at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born May 28, 1951 the third child and only son of Albert and Agnes Budde of rural Newton. He spent his childhood on the family farm East of Newton.

Gary’s first grade class was the last class to start at Kelly School, a one room school, one half mile south of the family farm. He finished his grade school years at Pleasant Acres School before moving on to Newton High School, graduating with the class of 1969. He completed his basic training in Colorado Springs before being stationed at White Sands, NM, McConnell AFB, Wichita, and at Bentwaters AFB Suffolk, England. While in the Air Force he worked as an electronic lab technician in PMEL-Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory, calibrating equipment in measurements as small as millionths.

On August 18, 1973 he married Linda Miller of Hesston. After their time in the Air Force, they established their home on the family farm, East of Newton. Gary was a self-employed farmer in addition to establishing J & G Fabrication, a welding and fabrication business.

Gary was a good and loving family man. He enjoyed being involved with his children’s activities, whether it was working on the farm, or with 4-H, Saddle Club, skiing with the family, traveling or activities at K-State.
