Guadalupe Terrones

Guadalupe “Lupe” Cardenas Terrones, 97, retired secretary, died Sunday, January 24, 2016.  Lupe was born in Colotlan Jalisco, Mexico on December 15, 1918.  She was a long time resident of Newton and a 1939 graduate of Newton High School.  She worked as a secretary & bookkeeper at Berry’s Hatchery for many years.  Along with working, she spent many years caring for her parents and siblings.  She married Faustino A. Terrones in March of 1988.

 

She enjoyed gardening and flowers & loved cooking for her family.  Her hobbies included searching for and collecting beautiful antiques. Lupe had a great sense of humor and library of relevant quotations.  Above all, she was very close to her faith.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Amador and Rosa Cardenas, sisters, Emma Cardenas and Estella Ruvalcaba, and husband, Faustino Terrones.  She leaves behind her brother, Benjamin (Debbie) Cardenas of Sand Springs, OK, and sister, Sara (Luis) Quinones of Lake Stevens, WA, brothers-in-law, Hector J. Ruvalcaba of Wichita and Leo Terrones of Newton, sister-in-law, Loren Terrones Lujano of Newton, and  niece, Cynthia (Alan) Mitchell of Humble, TX.

 

Rosary will be held, Friday, January 29, 2016 at 6 pm.  Funeral will be held, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:30 am, both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Newton, KS.   Visitation will be 5 p.m. to Rosary Time Friday evening with the family receiving friends until 8:00 p.m. after the rosary at the church.

    I will miss my Aunt Lupe so much! I always admired her strong will and matter of fact personality. She told it how it was. I’m sure she has been reunited with my parents, Alfred & Belen Terrones. All my love!

  2. Rest in peace to my wonderful Aunt Lupe!!! I remember visiting you in the nursing home. You and my aunt Bennie were the ones that I would always come see. Say hello to my Grandma Hope & Grandpa Raymond Gonzalez!! Prayers to the Terrones’s!!!
