Harold E. Funk

Harold Eugene Funk 72, died, Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Newton Medical Center following a battle with cancer.

He was born February 5, 1943 in Goessel, Kansas to Marion and Elnora (Reimer) Funk. On August 7, 1964 he married Sherry Ann Cummings at Newton, Kansas and they shared 51 years of marriage together.

In his early years Harold was a lifeguard at the Newton City Pool. He was a graduate of Newton High School in 1961. Harold started working at Hesston Corporation in 1963. He became an engineering manager in 1999. Harold retired from Agco with a total of nearly 47 years of service and dedication. He greatly enjoyed his years at Agco and the many friends he made. Following his retirement he enjoyed giving tours of the production facilities. Harold enjoyed cars especially his 72 Chevy Chevelle SS, trains and his beloved Boston Terriers. His greatest joy in life was his loving family and friends. He greatly looked forward to spending time with his loving wife, daughter and granddaughter and many friends he has made.

He was a member of the Newton Rail Rodders, Wichita Corvette Club and the Mac Area Cruisers.

He is survived by his wife Sherry of the home; daughter Ginger Funk of Moundridge, KS and granddaughter Morgan Funk of Moundridge, KS.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one son Terry Funk.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24th at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Donna Voteau presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday evening at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Central Care Cancer Center or Angel Attic in care of Petersen Funeral Home.

  3. Sherry- I was so glad to have had the opportunity to come to the house last fall and bring him the Gleaner book and collector Gleaner S8 combine. It cheered him up and we had a great visit. He was very best tour guide and I will miss him dearly as a friend. He is where I want to be some day with our Lord. May God bless you and the family and you are in my prayers. Kevin Bien

    We were saddened to hear about Harold. It was so fun visiting with both of you at the Car Show in Mulvane last June and I am so thankful we had that brief visit with our former classmate from Newton High.

  5. My heart hurts for your loss. I worked with Harold when I worked in QA and Production Control departments. He was always helpful and kind. Prayers for all of you as you let good memories fill your empty spot in your hearts.
