Helen M. Wallace 92, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Kidron Bethel Healthcare in North Newton, Kansas.  She was born June 30, 1922 in Lincoln, Kansas to Thomas and Mabel (Taylor) Stevenson.  On July 20, 1946 she married Alfred “John”. Wallace in Lebanon, Kansas and he preceded her in death in 2002.  Helen attended First Baptist Church in Newton, Kansas and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Barnard, Kansas.  She was actively involved in her church and faithfully served on the funeral committee at First Baptist in Barnard for many years and also on the ABW (American Baptist Women) ministry.  She enjoyed sewing and cooking and was known for delicious cinnamon rolls. Helen was a lady of great faith and servant to others. She looked forward to spending time with her many friends and loving family.

 

She is survived by her daughters Barbara (Jim) Myers of Newton, KS and Valerie (Denis) Warkentine of Topeka, KS; one brother Donald Stevenson of Salina, KS. She is also survived by two grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

 

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and one brother.

 

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Barnard First Baptist Church in Barnard, Kansas with Pastor Dennis Finch presiding.  Burial will follow in the Milo Cemetery, Barnard, Kansas.  Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home.

 

Memorials are suggested to the Barnard Community Center or First Baptist Church of Barnard in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
