Memorial Service for Jim Friesen will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018, 1:30 pm at the First Mennonite Church in Newton. Pastor Joel Schroeder officiating. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Jim L. Friesen, age 60 of Newton, Kansas died Sunday September 16, 2018 at his home in Newton, Kansas. Jim was born on March 1, 1958 in Henderson, Nebraska. He was the son of the late Levi E. Friesen and Edna Friesen of Henderson, Nebraska.

Jim worked at Mennonite Press in Newton, Kansas for 38 years.

He is survived by his mother, Edna Friesen of Henderson, sisters, Evonne (Earl) Ediger and Pam (and the late Gary) Janzen both of Henderson. He is also survived by his special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be left to the family to be used for Cancer Research and may be sent in care of Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main, Newton, Kansas, 67114.

  1. So sad. Remember good years of music with Jim. Singing together in college choir and in our quartet that continued on for a decade after college. Also, enjoyed his musical skills in bell choir at BCMC. And his great ensemble ringing with Marty. Jim had so much talent in music as well as art.
