Kevin B. Roberts, 56, died Wednesday (April 15, 2015) at Newton Medical Center. He was born May 21, 1958 in Garden City to Ted and Marjorie (Stephenson) Roberts.

He was a graduate of Salina South High School and worked in the maintenance and housekeeping departments at the Newton Presbyterian Manor. Kevin was an active member of the Newton Church of the Brethren where he played piano for services. He was a very musical person enjoying both vocal music and bell choir. Kevin was artist and enjoyed making arts and crafts projects, especially Christian crosses out of recycled and scrap material. He was a very outgoing person and enjoyed being around his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his sisters: Debbie Bradley of Minneapolis, Kansas; Jeanette Roberts of Overland Park; two nieces and three nephews: Brandon Abbott, Jennifer Barleen, Hannah Smith, Andy Payne, Tommy Payne and five great nieces; fiancé Marsha Kientz of Newton, and her children Mitchell and Lynn Kientz of El Dorado, and Wendy and Robert Gibson of Peabody. He is also survived by Marsha’s grandchildren: Jordan and Kaden Gibson, and Robert and Marcus Tolley.

Kevin is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sheldon Roberts.

A Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 25 at Newton Church of the Brethren with Pastor Laura Snyder and John Hoffman presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday evening at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Private family burial will be in the Lenora Kansas Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Newton Church of the Brethren in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
