Lavern “Skeet” Schneider

Lavern “Skeet” Schneider, 75, died at his home in Hesston on Sunday December 1, 2013. He was born on October 28, 1938 in rural McPherson County to Clarence and Gladys (Wiggers) Schneider.

 Skeet married Elizabeth Ellen Brainard on June 14, 1958 in Newton, Kansas. They were married for 55 years prior to his death. Skeet was the former owner of Skeets Repair & Service in Hesston for 35 years formerly J&S Auto Repair in partnership with Art Janzen.

 He is survived by his wife, Ellen; children: Ronald Schneider (Jeana) of Hesston, Valerie Schneider (John Dowling) of Phoenix and Cheryl Kristenson (Bryan) of Newton; two sisters: Clara Belle and Gladine Schneider of Hesston; and three grandchildren Clint Schneider, Rachelle Schneider (Anthony Clark) and Scott Kristenson and two great grandchildren Angelica and Leonard Schneider.

 He was preceded in death by his parents.

 A family visitation is scheduled for Saturday, December 7th, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Newton Harden Hospice.
