Luella Mosiman 94, died Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Asbury Park in Newton, Kansan. She was born October 6, 1924 in Newton, Kansas. On June 6, 1945 she married Reuben P. Mosiman at Elbing, Kansas and he preceded her in death on December 21, 2005.

Luella was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Newton. Luella was a graduate of Whitewater High School in 1942. She attended both Butler County Junior College and Emporia State University.

Luella worked closely with her husband on the family farm. When times were tough for farmers in the 1950’s Luella and Rueben started an egg business on the farm. With hard work this became successful and they were delivering eggs to over 450 customers. They retired from farming in 1987 and moved to Newton in 1991.

Music was an important part of Luella’s life and she enjoyed singing with various groups though out her life. She also enjoyed quilting and sharing her creations with friends and family.

The greatest joy in Luella’s life was family and friends. She looked forward to spending time with her extended family and especially her granddaughters on the farm as they grew up. She also enjoyed her time with her family and many friends she made through the years.

She is survived by daughters: Sherry and Kevin O’Brien; Mary Ann and Steve Kyle; Granddaughters Dawn Hungate, Denise Easton and Keri Rice. She is also survived by a sister Roberta “Bobbie” Hague and 6 great grandchildren.

Luella is preceded in death by her parents, husband and 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 15, 2018 at First Church of the Nazarene in Newton with The Reverend J. Jay Hawes presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas

Memorials are suggested to Nazarene Compassion Ministry, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Asbury Park all in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
