Marion F. Schroeder, 80, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Newton Presbyterian Manor.

She was born July 18, 1932, in rural Odin to Ferdinand A. “Fred” and Anna Catherine (Kirmer) Zorn. On May 31, 1955, she married Lawrence “Bud” Schroeder in Odin. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 2003.

Marion was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newton. Marion also was a member of the Business and Professional Women (BPW), Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Altar Society. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Marion enjoyed the company of her friends and walks around the neighborhood.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands: Donna and Bob Brenneman and Elaine and Hank Prouty, both of Newton; three sons and their wives: Alan and Debbie Schroeder of Wichita, Keith and Tamie Schroeder and Loren and Tawnya Schroeder, both of Newton; two granddaughters: Laurie Schroeder and Staci Schroeder; six grandsons: Chris and Tyler Brenneman, Austin Prouty, and Jate, Jeb and Judd Schroeder. Marion also has four great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Schremmer of Hoisington and Helen Holliday of Inman; brothers, Edwin Zorn of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Gerald Zorn of Great Bend.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Bud Schroeder; parents; brothers: Richard, Bernard, Frank, Leonard, Elmer and Alvin; and sisters: Margaret Steiner, Eleanor Hickel and Tillie Schremmer.

Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newton, with The Rev. Jim Mainzer Celebrant. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m. at the Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Newton.

Memorials are suggested to Newton Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
