Mary Alice Davidson went to be with her Lord on April 27, 2019 at the Kansas Christian Home of Newton, KS, with her family by her side.

She was born November 2, 1933 in Kansas City, Mo. At the age of four months she was adopted by a loving couple, Orville Eugene and Myrle Havens (Woody) Barbour of Wellington, KS. She moved to Newton with her parents in 1937 where she spent most of her growing up years except for two years during WWII when she lived in Pueblo, CO. She attended the local grade schools and high school graduating with the class of 1952. She attended Bethel College one year and later was accepted in the first class of the McPherson School of Practical nursing graduating in 1966. She was employed at Bethel Deaconess Hospital and later Kansas Christian Home as an LPN. She married Elmer Friesen April 26, 1953 and they lived on a farm near Goessel until his death November 22, 1967. To this union a son, Richard Eugene was born. After his death she and her son moved back to Newton and later to Anthony, KS where she continued in her profession as an LPN.

She met Delmer H., Davidson in the spring of 1973 and they were married June 23, 1973 at the First Baptist Church in Newton with Rev. Fred Spinder officiating. They made their home in Blackwell, OK where she continued her nursing career at Blackwell General Hospital until 1990 when she had to retire due to health reasons. In 1992 she moved to Bartlesville, OK with her husband where they choose to take care of his mother. She and Mr. Davidson choose to come back to Newton to be near her son in 1999.

Through the years her church was the focal point in her life. Upon her confession of faith, she was baptized by Rev. Logan Martin, Easter Sunday April 5, 1942 at the age of 8 ½ at the First Christian Church in Newton. She was active in the music of the church playing organ and or piano where and when needed and singing in the choir. She was also active in the women’s work of the church serving as President of the Bartlesville, OK CWF and the Newton CWF. She also served as president of the South Central District women’s fifth Wednesday group.

She was an active member in the Newton Treble Clef and the Bartlesville Musical Research Clubs. She was a 52 year member of the Order of Eastern Star where she served as organist for a number of years. She served as Worthy Matron of the Blackwell, OK OES Chapter in 1985. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and keeping in touch with friends and classmates through the internet. She was a dedicated mother and wife.

She was preceded in the death by her parents; Orville and Myrle, and both husbands; Elmer Friesen and Delmer Davidson.

She is survived by one son; Richard Friesen and wife Karen; step-grandchildren; Kristy Espinosa and Stephanie Cash; and six step great-grandchildren; and a close cousin: William (Bill) Woody and his wife Mary Ann.

Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 2, 2019, 2:30 pm at the Petersen Funeral Home Chapel.
