Mimi Nguyen

Mimi (My) Nguyen), 62, of Newton, Kansas died June 22, 2013, at home surrounded by family. She was born June 4, 1951, in Hai Phong, Vietnam, the daughter of late Dang and Chieu Nguyen. She was the oldest sister of 9 siblings. On July 27, 1996, she married Hoa Van Nguyen, who survives. She worked at Newton Medical Center for 25  years.  She loved her rose garden and enjoyed sharing them with family and friends.

Mrs. Nguyen was preceded in death by her brother Bong Nguyen, her brother and his wife Khanh and Carlene Nguyen.

She is survived by her 3 children, her sons Long James Mai and Minh Anh Mai; daughter Kim Mai and her grandchildren, Mariah Smith and Fletcher Hummingbird all of Newton, Kansas.

Her brothers Khoa (wife Tram Vu) Nguyen of Wichita, KS, Kha (wife Cuc) Nguyen of Los Angeles, CA, Khue (wife Debra) of Nashville, TN and Son (Sam) (wife Rhonda) Nguyen of Cabot, AR.

Her sisters, Gam Thanh (sister in law wife of Bong Nguyen), Nga (Rachel) Nguyen (husband Giang Van Do preceded in death) and Mai-Lan Brown (Loan Nguyen)(husband Julian D. Brown) all of Wichita, KS.

A rosary will be held Tuesday at 6pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Newton, Kansas. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Burial will follow the mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
