Monique (Barbieux) Fluker, 89, of Valley Center died October 8, 2017 at Newton Presbyterian Manor under the care of Good Shepherd Hospice. Monique passed peacefully. She was born in Taza, Morocco, the daughter of Fernand and Jeannie (Fruy) Barbieux on December 5, 1927 where her father was stationed with the French Air Force.

Monique was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to anyone needing a soft shoulder and a wise perspective. She volunteered at Chapman High School, teaching French, at Chapman Valley Manor and was a member of St. Michael’s Altar Society in Chapman, KS. She loved traveling, especially taking foreign visitors around Kansas.

Monique is survived by her daughter, Therese (David) Brunson of Houston, Texas and son, Jacques (Jarene) Fluker of Valley Center, Kansas; a sister Genevieve Peterson, Kalamazoo, Michigan granddaughter Joanne Fluker of Valley Center, grandson Damian, granddaughters Jacqueline and Lindsey.

She was preceded in death by her husband James S. Fluker; her sister Jeannine, her brother Fernand and her grandson Timothy Fluker.

Cremation has been requested. A private service will be held by the family members
