Phyllis Rose (Jamison) Brown

 

Phyllis Rose Brown, 93, died on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Newton Medical Center in Newton.

 

Phyllis was born on May 12, 1923 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Chester and Jessie (Troller) Jamison.

 

She married William Oscar “Bud” Brown on February 14, 1953 in Oklahoma.  They were married for forty three years prior to his death.

 

Phyllis was a devoted Christian and strong in her faith. She was an active homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, drawing and painting.  She loved being surrounded by her family and loved singing songs to them for comfort. She was active in the Four Square Church choir and had a beautiful singing voice.

 

She is survived by her children: Rowena Chaple (Willie) of Park City, Kansas, Amanda Botterweck (Terry) of Newton, Kansas, Douglas Spencer (Frances)  of  Kihei Maui, Hawaii; stepsons: Jerry Brown of Arkansas, Stanley Brown of Arizona;  sixteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband: William Oscar Brown; parents: Chester and Jessie Jamison; sons: Phillip Cope, Myrl Brown; and sisters: Virginia Bartlett, and Ila Purdue.

 

A graveside committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 8th at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.  A public visitation is scheduled from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, May 7th at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. during the visitation.
