Richard Joe Winsky, 93, died on February 3, 2017 in Newton, Kansas.

Richard was born on February 29, 1924 to Albert and Alice (Chapple) Winsky in Halstead, Kansas.

He was a graduate of Halstead High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Navy as a medic. He worked for the US Postal Service retiring as a Postmaster in Lyons, Kansas.

He married DeLois Warnke, on June 30, 1946. She was called home to be with the Lord on October 3, 1996.

Richard is survived by his children: Rebecca and Richard Schroeder of Newton and Richard and Nancy Winsky of Admire, Kansas; nine grandchildren; thirty six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife: DeLois Winsky; parents: Albert and Alice Winsky; brothers: Marlow, Albert John, and Orville Winsky; sisters: Vera Mae Williams, Hesper Diringer; one step grandson; one great-granddaughter; one great-step grandson; and one great-great granddaughter.

According to his wishes, his body has been donated to the KU Medical Center.
