Robert Leroy Kerr, age 70, of Newton, Kansas passed away July 15, 2017 at Newton Medical Center. Bob was born January 3, 1947 in Garden City, Kansas the son of Leland “Bud” Kerr and Doris Jean (Sipes) Smith.
Bob served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Air Force. He was a 1965 graduate of Larned High School and a 1975 graduate of Wichita State University. Bob received his officer’s commission in 1975. He resigned his commission in 1985. Bob was a retired minister and in recent years had been an over the road long haul trucker.
He is survived by his children; Nathan Kerr (Doris) of Wichita Falls, Texas, Tonya Craft (Eric) of Erie, Kansas, sister; Anita Pickens of New Braunfels, Texas, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather; Kenneth Smith, brother; Eric Smith, and sister; Pamela Schultz.
Cremation has been requested and graveside services will be held at Farmington Cemetery in Macksville, Kansas at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Robert L. Kerr Funeral Expense Fund in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
