Roger D. Koehn 66, died Friday, February 28, 2014 at his Newton residence. He was born November 29, 1947 in McPherson, Kansas to Wilbur and Luella (Koehn) Koehn.  He married Rose Zimmer and they were later divorced. On August 20, 1987 he married Marilyn K. Gunther and she survives of the home. Roger served his county in the U.S. Airforce and was a NICET level 3 certified Fire Alarm technician, he worked for Kansas Electric Company in Newton.  He was a member of the Grace Community Church, Newton. Roger held many certifications working with fire alarms, grain elevators and water treatment plants.  He enjoyed spending time restoring cars and working on motors and engines.  He also enjoyed woodworking and collecting and restoring antiques.  He was a man of faith of greatly enjoyed spending time with his loving family and many friends.

 

 

Roger is survived by 5 sons: Tony and his wife Heather Koehn of Newton, KS, Timothy Koehn and  Mari Emery  of Denver, CO, Jeremy Whiteside of Newton, KS, Toby and his wife Melissa Whiteside of Peabody, KS, and Matthew Whiteside of Newton, KS; one daughter Rhonda and her husband Craig Aden of Ashkum, IL; 2 brothers Michael and his wife Greta Koehn of Elyria, KS and Randy Koehn and  Mary Sypinski both of Arlington, TX; 2 sisters Andrea and her husband Roger Fitzwater and Karen and her husband Bill Rostine both of Springfield, MO. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents.

 

A service of celebration and remembrance will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Grace Community Church in Newton, KS with Pastor David Reimer presiding.  Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A private family interment service will take place in Greenwood Cemetery Newton, KS.

 

Memorials are suggested to Kansas State University Center for Basic Cancer Research in care of Petersen Funeral Home
