Salome A. Jantz

Salome A. Jantz 87, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Newton Medical Center.  She was born April 24, 1926 in Goessel, Kansas to Albert and Anna (Duerksen) Schmidt.  On June 6, 1947 she married Allen Jantz in Goessel Kansas and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2008.  Salome was a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel, Kansas.  She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School.  She was a housekeeper at Newton Presbyterian Manor.  Salome enjoyed her time at the Newton Presbyterian Manor and all the friends she made through the years.  Her family was very important to her and she greatly looked forward to spending time with her loving family and many friends.

She is survived by her son Gary and his wife Norma Jantz of Topeka, Kansas; daughter Greta and her husband Leon Salmans of Park, Kansas; three sisters Vivian and Don Meyer of Lakewood, Colorado, Norma Jean Wasemiller of Lehigh, Kansas and Arlene and John Hergert of Arvada, Colorado. 3 grandchildren D.J.  and his wife Stephanie Salmans, Jennifer and her husband Kendall Talley and Barbara Schultz. She also had 2 great grandchildren.

Salome is preceded in death by her husband Allen.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel, Kansas with Pastor Linda Ewert presiding. The family will greet friends prior to the funeral from 10: 30 to service time.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
