Sean M. Brunner

d. November 22, 2014

Sean Brunner was born June 6, 1969, and went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2014 at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

At the age of 2, Sean was disabled after experiencing seizures due to extremely high fever, along with an allergic reaction to penicillin.  Sean lived at home with his family until the age of 6 when the decision was made to place him at Winfield State Hospital and Training Center.  Sean lived at Winfield until 1998 when he moved back to Newton and lived at Northview Developmental Services.  Sean most recently lived at Kansas Christian Home for the past 10 years.

Although Sean’s disability left him unable to communicate with words, he made a tremendous impact on everyone he met.  His smile and infectious laugh made him a favorite of his caregivers.  He loved music and a good joke.

Sean was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and Roberta Brunner, Edward and Adaline Abrahams, and uncle Barry Abrahams.  Sean is survived by his parents, John and Treva Brunner of Newton; sisters Stephanie and husband Gary Bortz of Winfield; Kimberly and Ed Giesen of Wichita;  nieces Kira and Haley Bortz of Winfield, nephews Nikolai and Canaan Giesen of Wichita and Alex Bortz of Winfield.  Sean is also survived by many loving caregivers present and past.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 26 at 2:30 pm at Kansas Christian Home.  The family will greet visitors at Petersen’s Funeral Home from 7 – 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25.  Memorial contributions to Kansas Christian Home may be made through the funeral home.
