Alice Base

Alice Base, 92, died on March 11, 2015 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Goessel, Kansas.

Alice was born on September 7, 1922 to Homer and Zella (Ewalt) Eldridge in Mott, North Dakota.

Alice was a graduate of Biola Bible Institute of Los Angeles, CA and a graduate of the school of nursing at Bethel College in North Newton.  She had a long career in nursing until her retirement. She was a life time member of the First Baptist Church in Newton.

She married Paul Jessie Base on June 11, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Newton.  He passed away on November 23, 1991 after thirty three years of marriage.

She is survived by her children: Vivian Schroeder, Virginia and Eddie Spellman, and Vernon and Angela Base; brother: Thomas J. Eldridge and seven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Paul Jessie Base; parents: Homer and Zella Eldridge; and sister: Myrtle E. Richards.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 16^th at the First Baptist Church in Newton.  A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, on Sunday, March 15^th at Petersen Funeral Home.  The family will be present to greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday.  A public committal will be held at 9:30 AM on Monday, March 16^th at the Peace Valley Cemetery in rural Roxbury, Kansas.
