Amber K Grant 48 died January 19, 2025, at NMC Health in Newton, Kansas. She was born August 20, 1976, in Great Bend, Kansas to Raymond Wehr and Tamra (Neighbors) Downs, they survive.
On June 13, 1998, she married Justin Grant at Newton, Kansas and he also survives. The couple built there life together starting in Walton, KS, where they raised there three children. They moved to Newton, KS, where they continued their journey.
Amber has continued to further her education through the years. She received her RN from Hesston College and worked at St. Francis’ Burn Center for over 10 years. During that time she earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees from University of Phoenix. Amber was driven and continued her education at Maryville University where she earned her Doctorate. This led to a shift in her career and she moved to practicing as an APRN at Axtell for the last 6 years. While she was continuing her education she was also working as a preceptor at Butler Co. Community College, teaching first year nursing students.
When Amber became passionate about something she would dig in and put in as much work as she could. She did this with the Harvey Co. Victory in the Valley organization. She was on there board for two years and got to be a model for there fundraiser for two years. She enjoyed the time she spent working with those ladies and the support they offer to our community.
In her free time Amber could be found crafting or decorating for the holidays, Christmas was her favorite holiday to decorate for. She was an avid Cricut user, she was always making something for others or to use as decoration. She loved to make seasonal shirts for the girls at work. Her number one goal was to help others, bring them joy, or put a smile on there face, whether through work or her hobbies. She wanted to make sure no one felt alone, especially during the holidays, she was always offering people a spot at our table, or to bring them a meal.
When she wasn’t crafting or decorating she loved to spend time with her family or friends. She loved sitting on the couch with her husband, watching a good TV show, and she always made sure to have a big bowl of popcorn ready to share. One of her favorite pastimes was sitting around the bonfire with her husband and sisters with a warm drink in hand. She treasured the time she got to spend with her family and her dogs, no matter what they were doing.
Amber is survived by her mother Tamra Downs; Husband Justin Grant; Son Justice Grant; 2 daughters: Briar Grant and Tavia Poulos; Brother Adam Smith; 4 Sisters: Autumn Altum; Ashley Rhodes; Cody Downs and Christina Kendall. She is also survived by one grandchild.
