Anita Loretta Gaede died on January 16, 2015 In Hesston, Kansas. She was born to Myrtle and
Harold Orndoff in Wichita, Kansas on September 2, 1935. She had an active life that led her in
many directions and different locations. She grew up in Wichita, Kansas with her sister’s
Murle, Ramona, and brothers Marvin, Warren, and Chet, they later moved to Kansas City as her
dad worked for the Santa Fe RR. Anita married Eugene Gaede on December 31, 1976 in
Newton Kansas. Anita was an active lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles holding
several posts including serving as President of the Yucaipa Ca. Aerie, she was also an auxiliary
member of the American legion and the VFW she was active in many benefits and always ready
to help on the charity front. Anita loved playing Bingo, and was always ready for a game of
cards, especially at the local Aerie, often seen playing her pocket poker game that was rarely out
of reach. Her many children and grandchildren provided her plenty of comfort and pleasure,
along with her passion for books, which was always the best gift for her to receive, Anita will be
greatly missed by her many friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents;
husband, Eugene Gaede; granddaughter, Tina Maria Smith; and brother, Marvin Orndoff. She is
survived by her children, sons; Robert (Bob) & Cecilia Smith, Steven Smith, Kevin & Christine
Gaede; daughters, Mari & Terry McCrary, Daria & Bobby Garrison, Debbie & Troy Carroll, Lori &
Mike Esau, Teri & AI Bryan, Brenda & Vince Redinger, Beth & Rod Moore; 23 Grandchildren, 24
Great-Grandchildren. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 24 at 4pm in Newton
at the Eagles Aerie 120 W 5th St Newton, Kansas 67114. Memorials may be made out to the Eagles Aerie #2516 or the American Legion Post 2.
