Arnold “Arnie” Block

Arnold “Arnie” Block, 70, of Newton, died on August 10, 2016.  He was born to Gus and Velna August 7, 1946 in Newton.  He joined the Army Reserve right out of high school, and served as a Drill Instructor for two years.  Arnie married his wife Patricia in 1987, and formed a special bond with his stepchildren Jack, Larry, and Michelle.  Arnie was an avid hunter and fisherman, even as a child he had great interest in the hobbies.  He shared his love of the outdoors with his nephew, Ron and stepson Jack, taking them pheasant hunting, bow hunting, and fishing. Arnie worked as a truck driver, and a warehouse foreman throughout his career. He is preceded in death by parents, Gus and Velna Block; wife, Patricia Block. He is survived by stepsons, Jack Newingham, Larry Newingham; stepdaughter, Michelle Dunham; and sister Karolynn (Michael) Pearman; nephew, Ron Hays; and niece, Jennifer Lynn Anderson  A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Petersen Funeral Home.  Memorial suggestion, WildTrust Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism in c/o Petersen Funeral Home.
