Charlene J. "Pickle" Sullivan
Charlene passed away on July 7, 2024, in Halstead, Kansas. She was born May 26, 1936, to Henry Herman and Mary Luthena (Gibson) Gaede in Hillsboro, Kansas and graduated from Lehigh High School.
Charlene was faithful Christian. The greatest example of her living out the ideals of her Lord and Savior, was at just 21 years old, after her parents had both passed, Charlene was named Legal Guardian of her 5 younger siblings to ensure that the family remained together.
She enjoyed reading, singing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She was a huge baseball fan, (Yankees, Braves and the Royals) writing down daily box scores will into her 80's. She was a collector of angels, record albums, especially Country & Western, and movies from the mid-late 20th century. Her most prized collection were the hundreds of pictures of family that adorned her houses and apartments in all her many homes across Kansas; including Newton, Wichita, Peabody, Emporia and Halstead.
Charlene had an incredible work ethic. She started working while in high school and ended her career with 17 years at Coleman. Charlene would always let people know "I have never missed a day of work!"
Charlene will be remembered by family and friends for her warm smile, filling rooms with laughter, minds with happy memories and hearts with love.
She is survived by her brother Virgene L. Gaede, sister Rolene G. Gaede and brother Ragene H. Gaede and numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, sisters, Darlene A. Peterson, Marlene A. Anduss, Jolene W. West and brothers Eugene N. Gaede and Lugene M. Gaede.
In lieu of flowers the family requests, memorials may be made out to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and left in the care of Petersen Funeral Home.
