Charles Summers

Charles R. Summers 77, passed away on April 10, 2024, in Newton, Kansas at Presbyterian Manor. He was born on March 19 1947. He was the son of Jean Humiston and Ray Summers who preceded him in death. He is survived by a stepbrother Curtis Summers and two stepsister being Susan Summers and Vanita Lester. Charlie graduated from high school in Omaha, Nebraska and received a degree from Emporia State University. Charlie was employed by Harvey County dealing with accounts payable.

Charlie had a passion for biking and was a strong rider. He rode his bicycle thousands of miles each year in Kansas and in several other states. In 2002, Charlie came forward to lead Biking Across Kansas after the retirement of Larry and Norma Christie. He served as BAK director until 2011.

Visitation will be Thursday April 18, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Friday April 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery
