Connie L. (Koehn) Cornelsen, 74, died on September 1, 2022, at her residence in Wichita, Kansas.

 

She was born on March 13, 1948, in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Nelson and Naomi (Sackett) Koehn.

 

On May 24, 1968, Connie was united in marriage to Kenneth Cornelson in North Newton, Kansas. This year the couple celebrated 54years of togetherness.

 

Connie graduated from Newton High School, the class of 1966. She went on to Bethel College as a continuing education adult, where she received her degree in social science and work. She later furthered her education and received her masters degree in social work from Newman University in 2000.

 

Throughout Connie’s career she worked with compassion and care for those in need, working as a case manager for Youthville and Saint Francis Academy. Connie was currently employeed as a case manager for United Methodist Open Door, where she helped with the placement of 15 families into transitional housing.

 

Connie was very creative and enjoyed crosstiching, painting, and carving. As a natural caregiver, she loved serving her family and friends delicious homecooked meals. However, her greatest enjoyment in life was her family.

 

Connie is survived by her husband, Kenneth Cornelsen of Wichita; daughter, Michelle Sheriff of Newton; son, Robert Cornelsen and fiance, SaraJane Jeffries; sister, Janet Botterweck; beloved grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceeded in death by her parents, Nelson and Naomi Koehn and son-in-law, J. Kent Sheriff.

 

A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Bethel College Mennonite Church in Newton, Kansas.
