Dalice Wayne Franz 80, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 12, 1943 in Newton, Kansas to Marvin and Frieda (Schroeder) Franz. In 1963, he married Nancy Kay Dillman of Halstead. He later married Deanna Wedel in September of 1992 and blended two families.
Dalice was a dirt work contractor before spending the next 20 years as owner and operator of Franz Repair that was run out of the house he built from the ground up. Dalice sold used cars for years before eventually going to Agco Corp. for the next 17 years before retiring at the of 66.
Dalice always had a love of motors and cars. From building hot rods to spending the next 50+ years with his passion of dirt track racing. He was never happier than when at the track with his family and winning many races over the years. He was a talented mechanic and helped anyone that needed it. He loved working on projects in the shop and especially enjoyed all of the friends and family that would stop by on Friday afternoons.
Dalice had a great love of family and was always interested in what his grandkids were involved in and made all of them feel special. They loved hearing his stories and one liners.
He is survived by his wife Deanna of the home; Sons: Kelly (Laura) Franz; Brian (Dawn) Franz; Travis (Chris) Wedel, Jase (Nikki) Wedel, Daughter Shelly (Scott) Hardman; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Sister-in-laws Rita Franz and Judy Palmer.
Dalice is preceded in death by his first wife Nancy, his parents and siblings Sharon Bender and Denny Franz.
A private family service will be held at Greenwood Cemetary.
Memorials in Dalice’s name may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or First Mennonite Church in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
