David Lee Schmidt

d. October 25, 2022

David Lee Schmidt was born to Bob and Joyce (Hiebert) Schmidt on April 29, 1969 in Wichita, Kansas.

He graduated from Kansas State University and Dallas Theological Seminary.  He married Joella Woods in 1996.  They were blessed with three children, Anna, Nathan, and Ethan.

David worked as a youth pastor for many years and most recently in IT support.

David believed in Jesus for his salvation as a child.  He loved teaching and counseling and helping others learn truths from the Bible.  He was very involved in raising his children whom he deeply loved.

After calling in sick to work, David passed away in his home.  It is believed he died due to the illness and complications related to having Type 1 Diabetes.

David was preceded in death by his mom, Joyce Schmidt.  He is survived by his children, Anna Bergen and husband Alek of Wichita, Nathan of Wichita, and Ethan of Kansas City; his dad, Bob Schmidt and wife, Glendene of Newton; his sister Nicole Stauffer and husband DJ of Stillwater, OK; and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his former wife, Joella Woods Schmidt.

David is now experiencing the joy of heaven with his Savior.  1 Corinthians 2:9 says:  “But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

A memorial service is at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2022 at Newton Bible Church.
