Dean D. Heintz

February 23, 2016

Dean D. Heintz 91, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Newton Presbyterian Manor. He was born January 8, 1925 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Peter L. and Minnie (Corrington) Heintz.  On March 4, 1943 he married Lois F. (Backlund) Heintz and she survives of the home.  Dean served his country during World War II in the United States Navy on the USS Stanly DD428 Destoryer.  He retired as a plumber and pipefitter.  He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and plumbers and pipefitters union 171 in Wichita.  Dean enjoyed tinkering and fixing things and built his family home in rural Augusta.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family and coffee buddies.

 

He is survived by his wife Lois of Newton, Daughter and son in law Joan and Gregg Petersen of Newton, KS; daughter Jean and her husband Jim Cherrington of Fairplay, CO; daughter Lynn and her husband Richard Burgess of Lyons, KS; He also is survived by 6 grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents and infant son Vaughn

 

Graveside committal service with U.S. Navy Honors will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 29, 2016 at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kansas with Pastor Ron Kite of Salem United Methodist Church presiding. There will be a private visitation only prior to the service.

 

Memorials are suggested to Newton Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund in care of Petersen Funeral Home
