Donald D. Swanson

Donald (Don) Dean Swanson, a loving father, grandfather and husband passed away on 1/26/2015 at the age of 87.  Don married his sweetheart, Lois Angle, on September 17, 1950 and is survived by his wife, son Robert (Bob) Swanson , daughter Diana Barnes, as well as 3 grandchildren, Carey Goza, Katie Wilson, and Julie Swanson, and 2 great granddaughters.

Don was active in Bible Baptist Church and Newton Bible Church while living in Newton.  In 1990 after retiring from a successful career of 43 years at Boeing Aircraft, Don and Lois “retired” to Sun City West, Arizona.  Don enjoyed a second career of helping people in Real Estate before retiring for a second time.  He was also very active in Grace Bible Church in Sun City in several capacities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Lottie Swanson, sister Joan Duerksen and brother Jack Swanson.

Don loved his Lord, his family and extended family, hunting, fishing, skiing, gardening, family vacations and travel.  He was best at teasing his family and friends and loving life.

The family will be receiving friends for a viewing at Petersen Funeral Home on Friday, January 30, 2015  from 5:00PM until 9:00PM  with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial services will be held at Newton Bible Church with Pastors Ted Veer and Rod Pierson presiding on Saturday, January 31, 2015. At 10:30 am Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas at 9:00 a.m. Saturday January 31, 2015
