Donald Ray Hazlewood

d. November 3, 2021

December 21, 1942 – November 3, 2021

Donald Ray, better known as Don, was born on December 21, 1942 in Sidonia, Tennessee to Dent and Blondell (Rickman) Hazlewood.  He has four older siblings who preceded him named Cleo Foley, Loudon Foley, Delano “Biggie” Hazlewood, Bobbie Dortch, and one surviving sister Sue Everett  from Dresden, TN.

At the age of 12, he and his family moved to Chicago, Illinois.  There he graduated from Lane Tech High School where he gained skills to later become a tool and die maker/manufacturing engineer.

Don had a love for music.   He enjoyed playing his guitars with his circle of friends and would always say they had a great “jam session”! Don was a very friendly man who spoke so easily to strangers, making friends and ever finding things they had in common.

Don was always happy to hear from his family and eager to hear any of the latest news they had to share with him.  He expressed great pride in the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, great granchildren and extended family.

Don will be missed and the memory of him will remain in our hearts.  Those left behind are his sister, Sue Everett; sister-in-law, Sandra Hazlewood; daughter, Sherry and her husband Randy Burklin; son, Jeff Hazlewood and his wife Angie; daughter, Wendy and her husband Bob Tutins; daughter, Leah and her husband Bryan Underhill; nine grandchildren (one of which proceeds him to heaven), four great grandchildren, extended family and a host of friends.

Don was very encouraging with the words he spoke and many times he would say, “Keep on keepin on”!

The family is planning a special memorial service which will be held at a later date.
