Donna Maye Friesen

Donna Maye Friesen, 87, passed away on January 29, 2019 at the Newton Presbyterian Manor.

Donna was born on November 21, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Edward and Vera Metz (Nellans).

Donna married Virgil Friesen on June 19, 1949.  They were married for fifty-six years prior to his death on September 9, 2005.

Donna was a very gregarious person.  She would visit with anyone and never met a stranger.  She had a passion for doing crafts, art, gardening, working with flowers, was an avid reader, and enjoyed music and singing.  Donna cherished her time with her family and was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved animals, especially her dogs.

She is survived by her children: Debbie and Rich Didier, Robin and Randy Metzler, and Craig and Rosie Friesen; eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Virgil Friesen; sister: Patricia Nelson; and parents: Edward Metz and Vera Metz Nellans.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2019 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. A private family inurnment will occur at a later date.
