Donna Jean Staggs 96, died Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas. She was born September 28, 1927, in South Haven, Kansas, to Clarence and Gretchen (Ramsey) Knox.

On March 2, 1947, she married Jesse Kehl, he preceded her in death on July 14, 1989. Donna later married Charles H. Staggs on November 2, 1972, he preceded her in death on October 15, 2005.

Donna was a faithful member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton. She was a retired bank teller and also ran Staggs Orchard on South Ridge Road in Harvey county with her husband. In her free time Donna enjoyed painting, ceramics, and most of all spending time with her loving family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters Kathy (Kehl) Gray and Mary (Kehl) Kuendig; 2 grandchildren, Terry Cole and Jason Cole; and a sister Judith Daub.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jesse Kehl and Charles Staggs; step son Jonathan Staggs; brothers John Knox; Kendell Knox and Richard Knox; sisters Iris Whitley and Maryann Howsden.

Graveside committal service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton with Chaplain Diana Leaf officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Schowalter Villa or Caring Hands Humane Society in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
