Donovan J. Stubby (94) passed away Tuesday, March 22 at Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas.  Don was born on July 26, 1927 to Jacob and Edna Stubby.  The oldest of nine children he grew up in rural Lehigh, Kansas.   He went to school in Lehigh and at age 16 went to work in the oil fields for two years.  He served in the Army from 1945 – 1947.  After the Army he returned to Newton and went to work in 1948 for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.  In 1949 Don married Neva Jean Luttrell.  They had two children Bryan and Brenda.  Don worked 30 years for Southwestern Bell retiring in 1978.  Along with working for the phone company Don farmed.   He lived south of Newton farming for over 50 years.   Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Neva, sisters Lila and Janet, brothers, Earl, Gilmer and Rodney, second wife Doris Brickell, and his daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Ken McGuire.  He is survived by his sister, Helen Saylor and brothers, Loren and Jerry, son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Kristie, granddaughter Shea and husband Preston Neufeld, grandson, Cole Stubby and three great grandsons, Briggs, Banks and Broncs Neufeld.   A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
