Donovan Janzen, age 65, passed away on July 20, 2023, in his hometown of Newton, Kansas. He was born on October 11, 1957, in Newton, Kansas. His parents, Lois Janzen and Glenn Janzen, along with his son Jeremy (Christina) Janzen, daughter Heather (Ryan) Haase and his cherished grandchildren - Sara Stiles, Brock Stiles, Marissa Haase, and Bree Janzen - survive him.
Donovan's passion for his craft was evident throughout his career. As a sign maker, he ensured that individuals with disabilities could navigate the world more easily by creating signs that were accessible and inclusive. His dedication to helping others was truly admirable.
In addition to his professional achievements, Donovan was actively involved in his community. He served as a youth pastor and sponsor at his church, exemplifying his strong faith and commitment to guiding younger generations. Outside of work and church responsibilities, Donovan had a green thumb and found solace in gardening. His love for cooking allowed him to bring joy to those around him through delicious meals prepared with care. Music also brought Donovan great joy; he enjoyed singing and playing various instruments. Moreover, he found comfort in caring for his dogs.
Friends and family will gather to honor Donovan's memory at Petersen Family Funeral Home located at 215 N Main St in Newton on July 25th, 2023. The visitation will start at 7:00 PM and conclude at 8:00 PM.
A graveside service will be held on July 26th, 2023 at Haven of Rest Cemetery situated outside Hillsboro. The service will commence at 10:00 AM, providing an opportunity for loved ones to bid farewell to Donovan as he finds his final resting place.
Donovan Janzen's impact on his community and the lives he touched will always be remembered. His craftsmanship, commitment to accessibility, and service to others have left a lasting legacy. May he rest in peace, knowing that his compassion and kindness continue to inspire those who knew him.
