Doris Faye Stubby, 87, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2023. She was born on October 1, 1936, in Lehigh, Kansas, and her life was filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to her family and faith.
Doris married the love of her life, Earl Gene Stubby, in 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Newton, Kansas, where she remained a devoted member until her passing. Together, they shared a lifetime of joy, support, and unwavering love. Earl preceded her in death, but the love they shared continued to shine brightly in the hearts of their family.
Doris is survived by her loving children: daughter, Cidera (Anthony) Spencer, and son, Michael Stubby. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to her grandchildren, Carissa (Sean) Galbraith, Mandi Stubby, Serina (Leonard) Bell, and Tessa Stubby, who brought her immense pride and joy. Her great-grandchildren, Laika, Olivia, Ashlynn, and Violet, though living in other states, remained close to her heart.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Martha Seitz, her husband Earl, her son Martin, and four siblings. As she reunites with them in the heavenly embrace, her legacy continues through the love she shared with her family.
In her retirement years, Doris embraced life to the fullest. She found happiness in simple pleasures, such as playing games with friends, indulging in her love for reading, putting together puzzles, and embarking on exciting journeys to explore the world. Her sense of adventure and appreciation for the beauty of life inspired those around her.
Visitation will be from 5 pm to 9 pm on Thursday evening at Petersen Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 pm to 7 pm.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Newton, the place where she found comfort and spiritual solace, at 10 am on Friday, November 3, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Zion Lutheran Church as a tribute to Doris's life and legacy.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of support and love during this difficult time. Doris's memory will live on in the hearts of all those who were touched by her presence. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones in the arms of the Divine.
