Edythe I. Entz 95, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Kidron Bethel Healthcare in North Newton, Kansas.  She was born February 18, 1922 in McPherson, Kansas to Helmut J. and Martha A. (Krehbiel) Wedel.  On February 11, 1982 she married Walter B. Entz in Newton, Kansas and he preceded her in death on February 14, 2003. 

 

Edythe was a graduate of McPherson High School and a member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton.  She loved to look and was a creative seamstress making many garments without the use of patterns.  She enjoyed playing the piano and singing hymns in the evening.  Edythe was a lady of great faith and studied the scriptures and looked forward to discussing God’s word with her friends and family.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was happy to be in the company of her family and many friends.

 

Edythe is survived by her son Robert (Glenna Sue) Graber of Newton, KS; daughter Jocelyn (Jerry) Kasitz; Step-daughter Gwen (Don) Peterson of Albuquerque, NM; brother Arlyn (Twila) Wedel of McPherson, KS; She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren and 5 step great great grandchildren. 

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, step Son Merle Walters, brothers: Waldo and Ben Wedel; sisters Laura Schrag, Agnes Goering and Ruth Schrag.

 

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton, Kansas with Pastor Dawn Yoder-Harms presiding.  Committal service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kansas.  Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

 

Memorials are suggested to Harrah’s Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society or Kidron Bethel Village in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
