Elsie F. Cook

Elsie Fontelle (Clark) Cook 97, died Mother’s Day Sunday May, 8, 2016 at St. Luke Living Center in Marion, Kansas. She was born May 31, 1918 in Wichita, Kansas to Earl and Ociola (Gibbler) Clark.  She married Vance Eldon Cook on April 19, 1943. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1999.  Elsie loved to read books and looked forward to her walks around her neighborhood in Florence. She also enjoyed traveling and watching tv. 


Elsie is survived by her sons Kenneth and his wife Deanna of Newton, KS, and Robert and his wife Nannetta of Junction City, KS. 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Earl Clark Cook, a granddaughter Annette Lynn Cook and a brother Edmund Clark.


Visitation will be 3 to 5 Tuesday afternoon at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5. A private graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery in Ashland, Kansas where she will be buried next to her husband Vance.


Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Petersen Funeral Home.

  1. If roses grow in Heaven Lord please pick a bunch for me, Place them in my Mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me. Tell her I love and miss her and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while. Because remembering her is easy, I do it everyday, but there’s an ache within my heart that will never go away. I love you mom, Robert
