Elsie Mae Ross, 76, passed away June 10, 2013, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
She was born Feb. 12, 1937, in Eureka, the daughter of Max Henry and Elsie Mae (Smith) Castro. Elsie worked many years as a home healthcare provider. In 1968, she married William B. Ross Sr. in Miami, Okla.
She is survived by two sons, Toddy Black and William B. Ross Jr.; three daughters, Theresa Black, Tina Nichols and Debbie Ross; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Andre Castro and Elmo Castro; a sister, Elva Kingsley; and numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews; and her caregiver and friend, Lois McCain.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Corina Ross; two brothers; and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. A memorial service has been scheduled Saturday at 3 p.m. at East Lake Shelter House on the east side of the lake. There will be a private family burial at a later date.
