Ethel J. Stahl (Iserhardt) died peacefully in the Via Christi Village on Ridge on December 15th, 2016 in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 91.

Ethel is survived by her children, Gary and Nancy Stahl, Sedgwick; Bruce and Marilynn Stahl, Overland Park; and Robin and Rickey Miller; Sedgwick; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer; sister Paula, and brothers Ralph and Ernest.

Ethel was born on August 4, 1925 in Newton, Kansas to Fredrick and Mary Iserhardt. She graduated from Newton High School in 1945. She married Elmer Stahl September 2, 1945. They lived in the rural Newton and Sedgwick areas their entire lives where Elmer farmed and Ethel was a homemaker. Ethel’s children remember her as a hard-working farmer’s wife with some wonderful cooking and baking skills.

Ethel’s early years were occupied with riding her horse, Colonel, playing the guitar and singing. After getting married she focused on cooking, baking, sewing and caring for other domestic needs. She was a dedicated member of the Sedgwick United Methodist Church and often volunteered to help with meals of various types.

Family visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 2:00p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm December 19th, 2016 at the Sedgwick Methodist Church, 600 North Commercial. Pastor Janella McDaniel will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ethel’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Sedgwick United Methodist Church or Kindred Hospice at 2622 West Central Avenue, Suite 501, Wichita, KS  67203.
