FRANCES BELLE CONN

          Frances Belle Conn was born September 21, 1931, in Lafayette County, Lexington, Missouri, the fourth child to Ryland and Frances Maybelle Miller.  She attended rural Page City School in Higginsville, Missouri, until the third grade when the family moved to Mayview, Missouri.  In 1952 after months of recuperation from illness as a teenager, she graduated from Mayview High School.

          Frances received her bachelor degree in education from the University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg in 1956 and accumulated twenty-four years of secondary teaching and supervising student classes, organizations, and yearbook publications.   She began her career in Orrick, Missouri.  She married Robert Conn in 1959 and continued to teach in Independence and St. Joseph, Missouri, Smith Center, Kansas, and Campbell, Nebraska.   In 1980, as a single parent, Frances returned to college and taught in Mullinville, Kansas.   After teaching in Coldwater, Kansas, for 13 years, she retired in 1990 and moved to Plains, Kansas.  In 1996 she moved to Newton, Kansas.
Frances was baptized on March 8 1942, as a Baptist, and was a member of the First Christian Church at Coldwater.  She is survived by two daughters, Sara Ann Megletti of Hamburg, New Jersey, and Jennifer Fran Floerke of Newton, Kansas; sons-in –law James Megletti and Brent Floerke; grandson Joshua Floerke and grand-daughters Aubrey and Jessica Floerke. 

          Other survivors are two brothers, Clyde R. Miller of Odessa, Missouri, and Edward F. Miller of Independence, Missouri; and four sisters, Marjorie Moore of Los Angeles, California, Sandra Ward of Independence, Missouri, Kathryn Sallaz of Independence, Missouri, and Carolyn Davis of Sweet Springs, Missouri. 

          Cards in lieu of flowers may be sent to the family at 1521 NE 24th Street, Newton, KS  67114.  Donations may be sent to The American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.   Memorial services will be held at Petersen Family Funeral Services, 10 a.m., on Thursday, December 29, 2016.  Petersenfamilyfuneralhome.com.
