Life Sketch for Frances Ann (Linscheld) Hay

Frances Ann (Linscheid) Hay died April 1, 2016 at the Presbyterian Manor in Newton.   She was born November 9, 1925 in Newton, KS to Ernest and Anna Linscheid.  She had one sister Edith Mae.  She was a 1943 graduate of Newton High School and attended Wichita State University majoring in Elementary Education.  She married Jack A. Hay November 9, 1947 in Newton.  They had four children, David, Clark, Jacqueline and Rebecca.

Fran taught Busy Bee Pre-School in her home for 27 years.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and also served as a Deacon and Elder of the church.  She was active in Presbyterian Women and the Cruisers Organization and was a former member and president of Sorosis Club.

Preceding her in death was her husband Jack A. Hay, her infant daughter Jacqueline E. Hay, her parents, her sister Edith Mae (Linscheid) Reimer, and two brother’s in-law Kendall C. Hay and Keith G. Hay.

Surviving to honor her memory are:   two sons David E. Hay and wife Jolyn of Lenexa, KS, Clark C. Hay of Dallas, TX, and one daughter Becky (Hay) Cooper and husband Brad of Newton.   Sister’s in-law Vivian Hay of Wellington, KS, and Charlotte Hay of San Jose, CA.  Three grandchildren:  Conner Cooper of Manhattan, KS, Jaime Hay of Lawrence, KS and Hayley Cooper of Newton.  Seven special nieces and nephews:  Tim Hay, Kevin Hay, Jonathan Hay, Jennifer Preston, Nancy Reimer,  Greg Reimer and Lynn Hacker.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Presbyterian Manor Healthcare and the Senior Independence Hospice of Mid-America for their excellent care and concern for Fran during her long illness.

Memorial Service will be at 11:00am Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Newton with the Reverend Deborah Hollifield presiding.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. A private interment will be held prior to the memorial service at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.  Memorials have been established with the Memorial Fund of First Presbyterian Church, 900 Columbus Ave., Newton, KS. 67114 and the Senior Independence Hospice of Mid-America, 2414 N.
