Gary Lee Galemore, age 72, of Sedgwick, KS passed away October 23, 2019 at his home. Gary was born October 7, 1947 in La Mesa, CA to Alva and Wilma (Issac) Galemore.

Gary was drafted after high school and served during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged once his tour of duty was over. After the service he went to the University of Maryland on a G.I. Bill. Upon graduating he went right in to working for the U.S. Government as an Analyst for Congressional Research Service in Washington, D.C. on Capitol Hill.

Gary married Debra Kay Taylor on July 24, 1998 in Dale city, VA. After retirement the couple moved to Sedgwick, KS and bought a farm. He enjoyed many aspects of living in the country, such as caring for their horses and dogs. Gary enjoyed conversations about the Civil War and the Battlefields in Virgina and Pennsylvania. His family says he was so knowledgeable you would think he was a tour guide.

Gary is survived by his wife Debra of the home, 3 children; Kevin, Sheila, Meredith and 2 chosen children; Lachelle Lavenant and husband Lance of Wichita, KS, and Christopher Rumford of Parsons, KS, brothers; Monty Canfield, Greg Galemore and wife Julie, Mark Galemore and wife Kathy, and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother; Zack Galemore.

Cremation has been requested by the family and services will be held at a later date.

Family suggests memorials to Caring Hands Humane Society or the American Heart Association and may be sent in care of Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main, Newton, KS. 67114
